In children’s hospital Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis (WKZ) 5.000 young patients are hospitalized each year. They undergo surgery under anaesthesia and have to stay in the hospital for one day or more. Being hospitalized is scary and stressful for a lot of these young patients.
Make young patients feel more at ease and decrease anxiety and stress before, during and after surgery.
To make young patients feel more at ease and decrease anxiety and stress, we’ve created two augmented reality buddies in collaboration with the Wilhelmina children’s hospital. Monkey and tiger accompany these young patients in every step of the patient journey: from home, to ward, recovery room and back home again. Puzzles pieces that unlock new content when scanned can be found at several physical locations inside the hospital, turning the scary patient journey into a fun and light-hearted treasure hunt.
